1. 在语义上， rice 是“中心词”， twobig bowls of 是“修饰语”。由于吃的宾语是米饭，不是盛饭的碗。表语之所以用不可数的代词much，就是针对rice，由于rice 不可数。
2. 在结构上，two big bowls是“中心词”， ofrice 是“修饰语”。由于谓语动词要依据中心词用复数形式。原句是过去时看不出来，改为目前时就非常了解了：
Hungry as a wolf，two big bowls of rice don’t seem too much.
◆现第三以two cups of coffee（两杯咖啡）为例，进一步说明这种结构的关系：
1. 在内容和语义上，coffee是中心词，two cups of 是修饰语。
He drank two cupsof coffee. 他喝了两杯咖啡。
（喝的是“咖啡”，不是“杯子”）
2. 在结构形式上，two cups 是中心词，由于“主谓一致”要服从 two cups，而不是 coffee.
