Chinese artwork sells for $77m
明代长卷5.12亿元成交
The Ming Dynasty painter Wu Bin's long scroll Ten Views of a Fantastic Rock was sold for 512.9 million yuan at the 15th Anniversary Celebration of Beijing Poly Auction on Sunday, marking the highest auction price for ancient Chinese artworks.
十月18日，在北京保利拍卖十五周年庆典拍卖会现场，明代画家吴彬的长卷《十面灵璧图卷》以5.129亿元人民币（约合7660万USD）成交，创下中国古时候艺术品拍卖价格的最高纪录。
According to historical records, a well-known figure in the Ming Dynasty received a strange stone that he liked so much that he invited Wu to paint it.
据史书记载，明朝有一个大人物得到了一块奇石，爱不释手，于是邀请吴彬为这块石头绘制长卷。
Wu depicted the stone from 10 different views and the figure invited a group of friends to write prefaces and postscripts on the painting, which became known as Ten Views of a Fantastic Rock.
吴彬分别从十个侧面描绘了这块奇石的形态，大人物又邀请了一众好友为此画题跋，一同完成了这幅《十面灵璧图卷》。
