2）rarely倒装句，倒装的意义何在？之所以不需要正常语序，是由于要突出强调副词“rarely（极少）”，是吗？强调“学生真的是极少做某事。”

engage with 为短语动词，后接sb 或 sth作宾语。作者把ideas 和 反身代词并列作engage with的宾语。这种并列欠妥，由于engage with后接sth和sb词义有所不同。应做如下修改：
Kids spend hours each day engaging with ideasor witheach other through screens.
rarely为半否定词一般为中位状语，含有半否定词的句子是否定句。半否定词前置于主语之前，则句子需要部分倒装。前置是强调的方法之一。假如rarely不前置，就不倒装：
but they rarely have an opportunity...
but rarely do they have an opportunity...
