困惑：判断saw后的宾语成分
①假如只有spread作宾语，即spread为n. 表示“蔓延”，before me为后置定语，the darkened earth surrounding…表示“变黑的土地用她的手臂拥抱无数的家庭…”，我觉得与“蔓延”表示的是同一意义，那样这一大串成分上能否为spread的同位语呢？surrounding…又在这里作什么成分？
②假如saw后能看作是倒装句，即原型是the darkened earth spread before me, surrounding…，那样这一串都是saw的宾语了，spread为从句谓语表示“展开”，surrounding…目前分词作随着状语，这句话译成“看到变黑的大地在我的面前展开，用她的手臂拥抱无数家庭”，互联网上大部分也是这种翻译；但假如成立，我不是特别理解这里为什么满足倒装的条件？
