注解：
1. vestige 的本意是指残留的部分、痕迹，譬如说吃剩下的饭菜就是vestiges of a meal； 假如看到一个爱说谎的人正在向你的好又灌输什么，你就要对你说的好友： There is not a vestige of truth in what he says.（他所说的没一句真话。这里作者用vestige表达源于己曾有过的思绪；
2. 这句话是个省略句，恢复过来应是：It is better by far that you should forget and smile than that you should remember and be sad；此处出现的better by far 可以当做一个固定说法来记忆，表示远远胜于；

作者是Christina Rossetti 克里斯蒂娜。罗塞蒂。《记住我》这首诗表现了诗人依依不舍的情怀。虽然诗人意识到，生死两地，你已不可以再把我的 手紧握，我也不可以再犹豫着，欲去还留。但诗人分明还记得那无休止对我描绘我们两个将来生活的场景，期望在黑暗和腐朽之余还留下我思念的一 点痕迹。最后，诗人挣扎着说出，我情愿你忘记而面带笑容/也不愿你记住而愁容悲戚， 淋漓尽致地表现出渴望挣脱而又欲舍难留的复杂心情。
