China and India made a major step forward in their ties on Wednesday with an agreement on border defense^{1 cooperation and measures to promote regional economic integration2.}

中国和印度周三签署了边防合作协议和一系列促进地区经济一体化的协议，两国关系向前迈出了要紧一步。

Agreement on border defense cooperation就是边防合作协议，文件的签署有益于维护两国边境区域的和平与安宁（maintaining peace and tranquility of the border）。中印一致觉得，双方一同利益远大于分歧，双方有智慧、有能力管控和解决分歧，防止影响两国关系整体进步。

另外，中印两国将加大在基础设施建设（infrastructure^{3 construction）方面的合作，推进孟中缅印经济走廊（BCIM Economic Corridor, involving Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar）建设，并且积极探讨产业园区（industrial park）建设，逐步缓解两国贸易不平衡情况（trade imbalance），逐步达成贸易动态平衡。}

今年4月中旬，中印两国曾发生持续三周的边界对峙（border standoff）局面，双方积极协商并最后结束对峙。
