The Coca-Cola products that tested positive for a banned preservative1 in Taiwan have been recalled, and the Coca-Cola Co said its products on the Chinese mainland are completely safe to drink.
可口可乐企业的一款饮料在台湾被测试出含有违禁防腐剂，可口可乐公司已经将它召回，并且声称此款饮料在中国大陆完全安全，可以放心饮用。
文中的preservative指的就是防腐剂。防腐剂是一种化学成分（chemical compound），常常被添加到食品药品或木材中，来预防它们腐败变质（decaying or decomposition），盐就是一种容易见到的食品防腐剂（food preservative）。Preservative-free就是不含防腐剂的意思了。
防腐剂是食品添加剂（food additives2）中的一种。大家近期了解了不少食品添加剂，像猪肉中的瘦肉精（lean meat powder / Clenbuterol），西瓜里的膨大剂（swelling agent），蔬菜水果的催熟剂（ripening agent）等等。适当的食品添加剂不会风险食品安全（food safety），不过国内对添加剂宽松的规范（lax standard）却让人不能不为食品安全担心。
